The Opportunity:
POSITION OVERVIEW / SUMMARY:
The BCP / DR Technical Lead is responsible for the technical design, implementation, and execution of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities across Mattel’s global technology landscape. This role provides hands-on technical leadership to ensure resilience, availability, and recoverability of critical platforms supporting Mattel’s brands, digital products, supply chain, and corporate operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, and maintain BCP and DR solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Define, document, and maintain recovery strategies aligned to business-defined RTO and RPO objectives.
- Own DR architecture that includes backup, replication, failover, and restoration mechanisms.
- Lead and execute DR tests, simulations, and tabletop exercises, document results, and drive remediation.
- Function as the technical escalation point during major incidents and disaster recovery events.
- Develop and maintain technical runbooks, recovery procedures, and automation scripts.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, application, and security teams to embed resilience-by-design.
- Ensure BCP / DR controls meet Mattel compliance, audit, and risk management requirements (e.g., SOX, ISO, NIST).
- Continuously assess risks and recommend improvements to resilience and recovery capabilities.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers and regional support teams.
- Own technical implementation of BCP / DR solutions across infrastructure, cloud, and applications.
- Design and maintain DR architecture including backup, replication, and failover mechanisms.
- Execute and lead DR tests, tabletop exercises, and real incident recoveries.
- Serve as Tier-3 escalation during major incidents and disaster events.
- Develop and maintain technical runbooks, recovery scripts, and automation.
- Collaborate closely with platform teams (Cloud, Network, Compute, Storage, End-User).
- Manage DR testing calendars, audit readiness, and compliance reporting.
- Partner with business leaders to align recovery objectives with business priorities.
- Lead and develop BCP / DR engineers and regional coordinators.
- Report program health, risks, and metrics to senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement based on incidents, tests, and audits.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud, or operations roles.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in BCP, DR, high availability, or resilience engineering.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure components including compute, storage, networking, and virtualization.
- Experience implementing DR solutions in cloud environments (Microsoft Azure preferred).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise backup and replication technologies.
- Experience participating in or leading real-world disaster recovery or major incident events.
- Understanding of:
- Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure (primary), AWS (select workloads).
- Virtualization & Compute: VMware, Azure IaaS.
- Backup & DR: Enterprise backup and replication platforms (e.g., Veeam, Zerto, Azure Site Recovery).
- ITSM & CMDB: ServiceNow.
Preferred Certifications:
- ISO 22301 Business Continuity certification.
- Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity certifications (DRI, CBCP, MBCP).
- ITIL Foundation or higher.
- Cloud or infrastructure certifications (AWS, VMware, or equivalent).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive problem-solving and risk management mindset.
