Job Description

The Accounting Supervisor is a key position reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting and is included in the Central Accounting function at MasterBrand. As a member of the MasterBrand Finance Team and Central accounting, this role will support the month end closing process and ongoing activities within the department. This position will be responsible for aspects of monthly close, compliance, reporting, performance analysis, supervision and development of small team of Finance analysts, and special projects as they arise. This position requires the ability to work effectively individually and on teams within a matrix organization while handling multiple priorities across functions and levels throughout the business. In addition, this position requires a developing knowledge in accounting, finance, financial control, systems, information analysis and reporting. 

YOUR ROLE:

  • Provides direct supervision of small group of Finance analysts. Ensures timely and accurate completion of tasks, reviews reporting for consistency and accuracy, reviews and approves account reconciliations and journal entries, ensures proper process documentation is in place and individuals are cross trained on multiple positions, and personnel development including coaching and annual performance review process.
  • Hires, trains, and retains skilled staff through career development and mentoring.
  • Prepares assigned journal entries and account reconciliations and substantiations.
  • Assists with the assessment of monthly financial performance, including root cause analysis, and highlighting performance improvement areas to the operations team.
  • Ensures financial integrity by following established procedures and company internal controls that are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), MasterBrand policies, Code of Conduct, and other applicable guidelines. Ensures the financial statements are prepared in the same accordance.
  • Develops detailed knowledge of accounting systems such as Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud/Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services, Oracle General Ledger, and Friedman).
  • Assists with the preparation and review of the annual budget for assigned corporate accounts.
  • Serves as a backup for key functions within Central Accounting.
  • Maintains professional and technical accounting knowledge through appropriate training and education.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation and participates in Kaizen and Lean events where appropriate.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of all MasterBrand strategic business units. Leverages ideas from other reviews and co-workers to provide value-added recommendations and best practices to others. 
  • Demonstrates teamwork by responsively collaborating with the Finance management and staff, sharing information and ideas, proactively seeking, and accepting constructive feedback.
  • Consistently demonstrates the MasterBrand Way, positioning the company for growth and helping identify opportunities to reduce waste, complexity, and improve our work environment.
  • Participates in company efforts related to ethics and compliance activities.
  • Completes assigned close tasks accurately and on time.
  • Performs other duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (or Chartered Accountant equivalent), Certified Management Accountant, and/or Master of Business Administration preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience - with manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley, cost accounting and accounting acumen.
  • Positive and solution-orientated attitude and approach.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (oral and written) required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). Intermediate or advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Ability to travel 5-10% annually (domestic).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes typing, clicking, and writing. Frequently positions self to maintain information in drawers and shelving. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. Ability to read documents, emails, and computer screens, as well as see details on printed materials and presentations. Consistently works in an indoor setting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a remote position with the ideal candidate capable of working efficiently and independently from their home office to fulfill assigned tasks and meet deadlines. As a remote employee the candidate will need internet connectivity capable of supporting virtual communication tools that allow for collaboration with team members, attendance of meetings, and participation in company activities. The ideal candidate will be required to set up and maintain a suitable home office environment conducive to productivity. This includes having a dedicated workspace with a comfortable chair, desk, and adequate lighting. The candidate is expected to travel 5% to 10% of their time to meet with process and control owners and attend conferences. This travel will require overnight stays and may be multiple days in duration.
