Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Weekend Shift Receiving Supervisor

Shift: 1st Shift: Approximately Fri – Sun 7:00am - 7:30pm with occasional mandatory overtime.

Safety: As with all MasterBrand team members, the expectation for the Floater/Water Spider is that he/she will always set a positive example for other team members. As Part of Junior Leadership, the Floater/Water Spider will assist the TL/Supervisor in monitoring other team members for adherence to the MBCI Safety Policies and Procedures. The Floater/Water Spider is required to correct the TM and communicate to TL/Supervisor any violations of policies he/she observed. Floaters and Water Spiders will ensure to always wear proper PPE while conducting their job functions: Bump Cap, Reflective Safety Vest are required in the picking aisles. Safety Glasses, Earplugs and Steel Toe Shoes are always required while on the floor. Gloves are always required when auditing, and handling material.

 

Quality: As with all MasterBrand team members, the expectation for the Floater/Water Spider is he or she will always adhere to the SOS’s. He/She will monitor other team members for adherence to quality policies and practices and correct the TMs on the quality issues and communicate to the TL/Supervisor any quality issues that are observed.

  1. Floaters/Water Spiders will ensure to inspect picked material on carts as audits are being conducted and replace any defects caught.  
  2. Floaters/Water Spiders are required to properly identify mis-picks in the IPAD to ensure accountability.
  3. Floaters/Water Spiders are required to verify the cart sequence.
  4. Floaters/Water Spiders are required to pick Fall out Cabinets (fall out label will be used)    
  5. Productivity: The primary objective of the Floater/Water Spider is to ensure the correct material(s) are available to the line team member at point of use. To support this objective, the Floater/Water Spider is expected to complete the following activities Efficiently and in Timely Manner:
    1. As a critical function the Floater/Water Spider will ensure the accuracy of the materials delivered to the Line by performing regular picked cart audits in advance of the material cart being utilized by the Line TM’s.
    2. The Floater/Water Spider will position and move material carts to or from the designated workstations needed in a regular cadence supportive of the takt time and order mix in operation.
    3. The Floater/Water Spider will Pick replacement parts as necessary for line generated fallout part replacement due to line quality issues or missing WIP Material
    4. The Floater/Water Spider will notify the Line TL/Supervisor when Fall outs have reached to 5 cabinets or more for further guidance. (NOTE: all fallout cabinets are required to be picked and processed prior to next incoming shift coming in)
    5. Floater/Water Spider will return all excess/mis-picked material to the correct WIP location throughout the shift and prior to next incoming shift taking over the line.
    6. The Floater/Water Spider will Communicate with the Picking TL/Supervisor all picking related non-conformities (excessive miss pick, picking damaged material, etc.), and monitor for correction prior to adverse impact to the line team member at point of use. (NOTE: Floaters/Water Spiders are required to properly annotate Mis-picks on the IPAD for accountability purposes.)
    7. At the request of the Picking Supervisor per the Picking SOS, the Floater/Water Spider will support the picking team by picking needed material carts when the picking team is too far behind (in Red Status).
    8. Monitor and replenish supplies for the Line (screws, bumpers, cardboard strips, tape, EZ Read labels, etc.) in the workstations at a regular cadence supportive of the takt time and order mix in operation. Supplies will need to be replenished prior to the end of the shift as part of a normal EOD routine.

 

Additional Information

  1. Additional functions / expectations: When time available and as requested by the team lead or supervisor the Floater/Water Spider will train to the workstations SOSs, providing the Floater/Water Spider is trained and has signed off on the SOS for said workstations, they will assist in coverage on the line.
