Job Description

The primary role and responsibility of the Project Manager is to lead the execution of cross-functional projects for the Digital and Technology PMO. The Project Manager will have responsibility to drive projects through a phase-gate approach. The Project Manager will develop project plans to ensure projects are completed within scope, time, and budget. They will be the champion of the project process and responsible for managing the project team and stakeholders toward fulfilling the mission of each project. The position requires extensive facilitation of and collaboration with the cross-functional groups involved in defining and developing solutions.  The preferred location for this position is in the Central or Eastern time zone.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager - PMO.

Accountabilities

  • Program Management:
    • Work with the project team to plan the dependencies, resources and timelines needed to achieve project goals.
    • Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver technical solutions, while ensuring cost, quality, timing, customer expectations and applicable standards are met.
  • Project Plan Management:
    • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
      • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
      • Identify and confirm resources needed for implementation
      • Manage project dependencies and highlight critical path.
      • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Risk Management:
    • Monitor risk with respect to constraints, timing, quality, and financial aspects of assigned projects ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are developed; ability to elevate and focus management attention when necessary
    • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crisis situations, and devise contingency plans. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Communication and Project Control:
    • Present weekly status reports from the project team to management, highlighting critical path items, achievements, and barriers to progress.
    • Escalate issues appropriately to key leaders.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience successfully leading technical projects, preference for those within the structure and formality of a PMO
  • PMP certification highly desired.  Scrum Master certification also a plus.
  • Experience with project management software like MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.
  • Experience with scrum tools like DevOps, Jira, etc.     
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
