Job Description

This position operates under the direct supervision of the Finishing Supervisor.  The position will assist in the development of standard work documentation and auditing of all Finish Department non-sprayer processes.  The processes being audited will include 6S, standard work adherence, incoming material quality, material handling, finish quality and durability, and as assigned by the Finishing Supervisor.  This position will also perform various tasks in support of the department’s Finish Process Guidebook efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate effectiveness of existing standard work documentation and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in the development of new standard work documentation, including basic time observations, photography, formatting in excel, etc.
  • Conduct Finish audits per the assigned schedules.            
  • Data recording, tracking and analysis using Excel and other related programs during audits.
  • Responsible for audit data review to drive improvement projects.
  • Must be able to work alone, score audits objectively and report audit failures promptly to finish leaders.
  • Monitor, oversee, and coordinate new sprayer training per MBCI certification program.
  • Effectively manage Sprayer certification flow chart and sustainment plan.
  • Troubleshoot various finish process issues, diagnosing root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead development and qualification of new finish launches.
  • Review all finish material changes and provide data-driven rationale for all changes.
  • Support continuous improvement by participating in and sustaining the Masterbrand Production System. (MPS)
  • Audit and train Sprayers to ASDOT standards daily.
  • Must have good attendance.
  • Must understand and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains work area consistent with 6S program and training.
  • Maintain daily housekeeping in the work area.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by department supervisor. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities but will interact closely with the Finishing Supervisor on audit results, which may impact performance reviews for any associates being audited for work standards compliance.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee can be exposed to extreme heat and cold temperatures and must be able to tolerate temperature changes.  Working conditions include exposure to: noise, fumes, dust or airborne particles, hot and cold surfaces and sharp edges.  The noise level in this work environment it often loud.

    Education and/or Experience:
    Prefer high school diploma or equivalent.  One to three years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) is required in this position.

    Reading for information & Reasoning:
    Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

    Computer Skills:
    Ability to create Excel and Word documents using existing templates.

    Other Skills and Abilities:
    Able to operate and/or use the following instruments and equipment: Mechanical knowledge of pumps, fluid handling systems, HVLP guns, Air-Assist Airless guns and pumps, Oven Datapag preferred.

    • Able to stand and walk on concrete floor for 8 plus hours.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Manual dexterity required to operate various hand tools and equipment properly.
    • Able to climb ladders and remove parts from racks and put parts up.
    • Able to stoop, bend, walk and use of hands 100% of time.
    • Able to carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
