Job Description
The Assistant Development Coordinator - provides support to all functions of the Development Office in its efforts to identify and secure financial and in-kind resources for Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care. Primary responsibilities include the administrative functions for executing fundraising and donor engagement events, tracking financial contributions, direct mail campaigns, updating social media, the Mary’s Center website and other duties assigned by the Chief Development Officer.
REPORTABILITY:
Assistant Development Coordinator - reports directly to Director of Development
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assistant and administrative functions for all fundraising events in coordination with the Chief Development Officer.
2. Support all Email and direct mail solicitations, including preparation of target mailing lists and revenue reports as required.
3. Assist in developing marketing materials and planning & promotion of events to generate funding.
4. Effectively respond to individual donors’ inquiries through written correspondence, telephone, email, and in-person interactions, assuring the donor that their requests are important and will be processed immediately.
5. Perform regular maintenance in the donor database, which includes but is not limited to updating donor records for past, current, and promised gifts, processing donation changes, and keeping organized paper records for reconciliations, audits and general hard copy history.
6. Manage fundraising communication by tracking pledges paid and owed, production of statements, printing information materials, and correspondence with individual donors by phone and by mail.
7. Support all events including “Taste of Adams Morgan”, Annual Golf Classic, Noche Tropical Gala, and any other fundraising opportunities including but not limited to United Way, cultivation events and community outreach.
8. Assist in production & distribution of Quarterly Newsletter and other marketing communications materials.
9. Support the Development Coordinator – Volunteers in building and cultivating, stewarding volunteer participation for a robust Volunteer Program
10. Contribute to the department achieving its fundraising goals through strategies including obtaining sponsors and event attendees to support the overall fundraising budget.
11. Participate in United Way and other tabling events and represent organization in a professional and friendly manner.
12. Write and manage Thank You letters, calls and other correspondences.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience – undergraduate college degree and a minimum of one year of development or related experience; a strong interest in the organization's mission; English-Spanish bilingual preferred, but not required; excellent writing and editing skills; the ability to work effectively in teams and across organizational lines; and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately-complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary
Physical Demands – Regularly required sitting; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work Environment – Mostly in a typical office setting with quite to moderate noise level.
