Reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance (A&LS) the role is to provide Quality Engineering support to the assigned projects.
The role of Quality Engineer – Projects is to support the project teams to plan and implement the required new product implementation tools and techniques to ensure that the final delivered product and service meets the customer expectations by undertaking the following responsibilities:-
Write and implement Quality Plans to meet customer requirements in accordance with AQAP2105
Plan quality activities across each project and ensure that they are implemented effectively.
Review and delivery of required documentation and budgets on assigned Bids and projects.
Develop and implement a supplier control plan to assure the quality of delivered items on assigned project.
Conduct supplier assessments and visits as appropriate.
Conduct Configuration audits on both internal and supplied aspects.
Identify and apply appropriate quality tools to prevent quality failures. (ie FMECA, SPC, FAI, FAT etc)
Generate supplier non-conformity reports to drive corrective actions with faulty supplied goods or services.
Review and advise Engineering on suitability of product testing to validate and verify product performance. Manage product testing schedule and ensure resolution of any test failures.
Prepare and manage customer acceptance events.
Implement process improvements to improve efficiency of quality activities.
Generate production process and inspection sheets to demonstrate traceability of the final product to the build standard.
Responsible for the final product release and collation of the delivery documentation.
Undertake and facilitate investigations and implement corrective actions on Customer Issues and internal process defects using 8D methodology.
Generate appropriate KPI’s to demonstrate process and product effectiveness
We're looking for Quality professionals with a passion for continuous improvement, and ideally with skills and experience that will broaden the existing capabilities of the team:
- Appropriate Engineering based degree (Mechanical/Automotive/Avionics)
- Good working knowledge of quality tools and techniques relating to production controls and design assurance, and experience of their implementation.
- Experience in the implementation of new products from the design concept through to the in-service, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering or automotive environment.
- Experience of applying QA processes to supplier quality assurance
- Have knowledge and experience of a range of manufacturing processes, including but not limited to: Machining, painting, surface treatments, welding, fabrication and electrical installation.
- Member of the Chartered Quality Institute.
Due to the nature of our business, all employment is subject to satisfactory references being obtained, attainment of either a SC (Security Check), Disclosure Scotland Criminal Record Check or Foreign Police Check (whichever is applicable depending on duration of UK residency) and, as applicable, a medical assessment. Access to US technical data by employees requires prior Trade Control function approval. Clearance must be carried out against all applicable US export control authorisations.
