Job Description
Work in collaboration with the Lead Pastor to help students follow Jesus and fearlessly change the world. Join in owning the key aspects of the Transformational Loop for this ministry area. The Student Ministry Director will provide leadership to all volunteers and interns. The Director will be relied on for decision-making, alignment with Mariners vision and strategy, volunteer and staff development, and ministry execution. The Director will also lend personal experience and counsel where needed in Youth ministry.
- Leadership: Lead, motivate, and inspire your students and volunteer team to be fully devoted followers of Jesus; Teach and lead in small and large group settings;
- Communication: Ensure frequent communication and engagement with staff, volunteers, congregation, and other congregation leaders
- Leadership Development and Discipleship: Develop leaders to support the important work of the ministry; Build the small groups ministry included Rooted and Life Groups
- Cross Campus Collaboration: Work with the youth leaders at all congregations to find ministry solutions and execute aligned strategies toward shared goals; help the ministries at smaller size-phases prepare for growth
- Evangelism: Build and implement a strategy to reach the students of North Irvine.
- Community engagement : Develop partnerships in the community and with nearby Mariners Outreach locations for service opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related ministry area preferred
- 5-10 years of Youth Ministry experience
- Excellent communication skills - verbal (confident and comfortable speaking in front of groups), written, and relationship
- Leadership experience in a church or para-church organization
- High degree of bible literacy, seminary degree is a plus
- History of collaborating well with a team
