Job Description

The Vulnerable Families Associate Director serves as the primary leader for programs and partnerships within Outreach at Mariners that serve vulnerable children, youth and families. With support from the Outreach Pastor, this individual will serve as a dynamic leader that is passionate about educating others about vulnerable families (foster care, trauma-informed ministry, Unborn ministry, etc) as well as building teams and recruiting leaders that equip their teams to serve in impactful ways within Orange County and the church. 

​​Through recruiting and leading a team of volunteers, the Vulnerable Families Associate Director will be responsible for the following:

  • Leadership Development: Train, develop and empower ministry leaders and volunteer leaders to run various facets of the ministry. Identify and coach volunteer ministry leaders who are able and willing to lead others while maintaining a healthy balance with family, work, friends and Mariners Church. Provide support and assist in coordinating volunteer team activities and events.
  • Partnerships and Programs: Facilitate, develop and maintain key ministry partnerships such as Orangewood, Olive Crest, Fristers, Horizons Pregnancy Clinic, etc in Orange County. Strengthen existing partnerships and strategically evaluate and pursue new partnerships as needed
  • Planning: Facilitate strategic planning processes and reporting (Dashboards, Metrics, Ministry Plans, Quarterly Reviews, Etc.) Maintain up to date data, reports and metrics. Continually evaluate the effectiveness of existing ministries and programs while also looking for new ways to engage volunteers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 experience working with at-risk populations, foster care, or similar social services fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop volunteers.
  • Ability to self- manage flexible schedule with some evening and weekend hours
  • Skilled at developing cross-functional collaborations and partnerships both internally and externally
  • Ability to drive progress while discerning God’s plans and adapting
