Job Description

Work in collaboration with the Kids Elementary Pastor to help inspire kids to follow Jesus and fearlessly change the world. Join in owning the key aspects of the Transformational Loop for this ministry area. The Preteen Director will provide leadership to preteen staff, volunteers, and interns. The Director will be relied on for decision-making, alignment with Mariners vision and strategy, volunteer and staff development, and ministry execution. The Director will also lend personal experience and counsel where needed in Preteen ministry.

  • Pastoral Leadership: Lead, shepherd, and inspire 250-300+ weekly preteen kids, families and volunteer team to be fully devoted followers of Jesus; program, teach, and lead in small and large group settings. 
  • Leadership Development and Discipleship: Develop preteens and volunteer leaders to support the important work of the ministry; strategically think through discipleship pathways; build small groups ministry including midweek, Jr. Leadership, Preteen Serve day, etc.
  • Communication: Ensure frequent communication and engagement with staff, volunteers, preteens, families, and other congregation and student team leaders
  • Evangelism: Build and implement a strategy to reach the preteens of Irvine, and other surrounding cities.
  • Stewardship: Help to plan and oversee budget, calendar, database, events, programs, VBS, and other outreach opportunities.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred. 
  • 3+ years experience working in ministry, youth ministry (Junior High) or kids director experience preferred.
  • A love and passion for preteens & families. 
  • Strong relational and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with multiple application programs.
  • Demonstrated customer services skills, prioritization, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
  • Ability to manage and balance complex schedules and details.
  • Available to attend and/or assist with set-up, registration, or other needs for specific Youth Ministry events.
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
  • Ability to manage, direct, and oversee teams of volunteers.
