Job Description
At Marie Curie, we are dedicated to providing expert end-of-life care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Our retail stores play a vital role in raising the funds that make this possible.
We're looking for a friendly, customer-focused Sunday Assistant to join our Eltham store and help us deliver an excellent shopping experience while supporting our mission.
What You will Do
- Support the day-to-day running of the store and deliver excellent customer service.
- Maintain high standards of shop presentation, displays, and merchandising.
- Process, sort, and price donated goods in line with Marie Curie guidelines.
- Assist with stock rotation and help minimise stock loss.
- Maximise Gift Aid income and support the effective display of bought-in goods.
- Engage customers in conversations about Gift Aid, rounding up purchases, additional donations, and the Marie Curie loyalty scheme.
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for customers, volunteers, and colleagues.
- Support local community engagement to encourage donations, volunteer recruitment, and repeat custom.
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers, contributing to a positive team culture.
- Follow Marie Curie policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements at all times.
- Undertake lone working responsibilities when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous retail experience, ideally within a fashion or clothing environment.
- Experience of cash handling and financial procedures, including maintaining sales records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- The ability to communicate with tact, discretion, and professionalism.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- An understanding of health and safety practices within a retail environment.
- Experience of supporting, motivating, or working with volunteers (desirable).

- Salary: £3,635.06 per annum plus benefits
- Hours: 5.5 hours per week
Please note that this role involves lone working. Therefore, applicants must be aged 18 or over.
