Job Description

We’re seeking an efficient, organized controller who is also a go-getter to support the dynamic team at Maricich Health on a part-time, contract basis. You’ll be a central member of the team responsible for effectively supervising agency financial, legal, personnel, administrative and internal affairs. Your core function will be serving as the right-hand of management when it comes to decisions affecting the finances and risk profile of the company. As part of this role, you'll help the team transition to a full-time controller once effective process is in place and the appropriate candidate is available. Temp-to-perm is a possilbility. To be successful in this role, you must be a strategic thinker and have a good grasp of the principles of business, especially as it applies to a creative professional services firm. From providing big picture recommendations to ensuring job-accounting processes are followed company wide while ensuring checks and balances, you’ll be central to the financial and administrative flow of a growing branding and advertising agency.

Be prepared to roll up your sleeves, juggle priorities, solve problems, and keep a myriad of plates spinning. You’ll work closely with all agency departments including client engagement, creative, digital, media and others including the agency principals. On time and on top of things–that’s you. But you’re also the kind of person that coworkers and clients would want to have coffee or drinks with, because relationships matter here.

Qualifications

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages monthly closings. Controls the flow of data into the general ledger
  • Prepares monthly financial reporting package including P&L and balance sheet
  • Oversees accounting manager in the timely recording of all transactions (AP), client billing (AR), preparation and tracking of associated financial backup reports, insurance requirements, oversight of benefits and corporate records
  • Assists with revenue projections and prepares / updates budget based on expense forecasts upon which management decisions can be based
  • Works closely with CPA to close out fiscal year, administer tax strategy and assist in audits and review of the books as needed
  • Monitors and prepares cash-flow reports
  • Prepares special reports and analysis as directed by agency principals
  • Prepares weekly and monthly job analysis reports
  • Works with account team on an ongoing basis to advise on job reports and troubleshoot financial issues related to job performance
  • Prepares reports and facilitates monthly account-finance team meeting to review job/client performance, review forecasts and evaluate processes
  • Helps to facilitate legal affairs to minimize risks
  • Helps to oversee internal admin/office team to ensure an optimal agency environment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration
  • At least 7 years accounting experience and proven success, ideally as a controller with a marketing communications or other professional services-oriented firm
  • Experience working with cloud based ERP accounting software such as Intacct or equivalent
  • Strong Excel, Office and general computer skills
  • Personable, team player and with ability to proactively work with team members at all levels
  • Self-motivated, goal and deadline driven
  • Critical thinker who can seek and propose solutions to complex business/technical issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly and concisely interface with all levels of the team
  • Full-time is preferred, but part-time candidates 24+ hrs. per week will be considered
