Job Description
Are you a proactive HR professional skilled at balancing business goals with employee advocacy? We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to manage employee relations, recruitment, and regulatory
compliance while helping build a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to management and employees alike. You will navigate complex compliance landscapes, lead recruitment efforts, mediate workplace matters, and support organizational development—all while delivering seamless HR support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate employee relations matters objectively, handling performance management, disciplinary actions, and formal grievances.
- Strategic Buffer: Act as a fair, objective liaison between management and employees, fostering trust across a diverse workforce.
- Offboarding & Risk Mitigation: Advise managers on legally compliant termination and layoff processes to minimize organizational risk and turnover costs.
- Policy & Communications: Draft and distribute professional HR correspondence (offer letters, contracts, policy updates) across the organization.
- Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, behavioral assessments, background/reference checks, and onboarding.
- Train and guide hiring managers on using recruitment software and modern hiring practices.
- Ensure adherence to provincial/federal employment standards, Pay Equity, and the company Drug and Alcohol Program (including testing coordination).
- Promote workplace safety and support facility sustainability initiatives
- Oversee job evaluations, market pricing, pay scale alignment, and job description updates.
- Safeguard confidential employee records and manage HR systems.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be comfortable handling sensitive employee discussions, training, and documentation.
- HR Expertise: Strong working knowledge of provincial/federal employment laws and health and safety regulations.
- Core Competencies:
- Exceptional negotiation, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Uncompromising objectivity, fairness, and emotional intelligence under pressure.
- High attention to detail and organized record-keeping abilities.
- Adaptability, patience, and strong professional discretion.
