Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • As a System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our systems. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • This position can also be done remotely.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support large environments of Windows & Linux servers and technologies: troubleshooting, proactive management, security management, backups, daily operation and optimization.

  • Implement security measures to protect system data, networks, and information.

  • Conduct regular system updates and patches to enhance performance and security.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement system enhancements and upgrades.

  • Manage and monitor backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery capabilities.

  • Responsible for resolving infrastructure break/fix issues and enhancements in a timely manner.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for addressing system emergencies outside of regular business hours.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation.

  • Liaise with third-party partners/vendors for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years hands-on technical experience in troubleshooting network and hardware issues.

  • Application support experience with Windows and/or Linux based systems.

  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python and Powershell

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V etc.).

  • Experience with managing Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud). 

  • Experience with Kubernetes cluster management and deployment.

  • Experience with open-source database systems (MySQL, MongoDB, MariaDB).

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Highly self-motivated and directed.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex issues in a distributed system.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

 

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications (Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft, Linux, Kubernetes, VMware and Cloud certifications) are a plus
