Job Description

Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in design and review of new applications and integration strategies of EDI systems.
  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of EDI systems to meet business demands.
  • Define and implement strategies for integrating EDI and non-EDI operating environments.
  • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure EDI system security.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Conduct research on EDI-related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.
  • May liaise with vendors for efficient EDI implementation and for resolution of any EDI related issues.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades

Operational Management

  • Lead, coordinate, and administer key process improvements to Internet-based EDI implementations.
  • Lead transitions of EDI systems to next-generation environments and/or cross-functional business systems.
  • Perform system configuration, mapping, and management for EDI-based transactions and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
  • Define and perform EDI system backups and recovery procedures.
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Compare compatibility of EDI-related products to company systems and make recommendations.
  • Install, coordinate, and troubleshoot EDI-related products.
  • Perform data audits and quality control measures.
  • Recommend and execute modifications to EDI systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain EDI process documentation.
  • Review and implement vendor-supplied EDI patches.
  • Develop and maintain EDI training materials and systems documentation.
  • Maintain system data integrity to reduce impact and errors on all application
  • Work professionally with external customers, Government Agencies and auditors
  • Compliance of IT best practices, documentation procedures and company/government regulations
  • Works within service desk environment to resolve customer issues
  • Responsible for any other duties assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience.
  • Specific knowledge of AS400 (iSeries) platform(s) required.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining EDI systems and Van interfaces.
  • Knowledge of EDI standard formats (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, etc.) and EDI translators.
  • Working technical knowledge of code using iSeries (AS400) RPGLE programming, XML scripting, Trusted Link
  • Familiarity with Internet protocols and Web development tools, including Java
  • Good technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards, including Windows servers.
  • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Ability to conduct research into EDI issues and products as required.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
