Mae is a digital health solution on a mission to improve the health and quality of life for Black mothers, babies, and those who love them. Mae has created a space where complete digital care meets culturally-competent on-the-ground support. We address access gaps and bolster physical and emotional well-being through continuous engagement, risk assessment, early symptom awareness, and a community-led model of support for our users.

Digital solutions to address cultural deficits in care are at the forefront of femtech innovation and Mae is quickly gaining traction with healthcare payers as a viable solution to address the implicit, explicit, and structural biases that hinder equitable maternal health. In addressing whole-person care and focusing on self-advocacy, education, and community, we seek to improve the outcomes for Black mothers, while also reducing clinical costs of care, at impactful scale.

We’re looking for a senior full stack software engineer who is passionate about maternal health equity to build and shape key features of Mae’s platform. This is an opportunity to be an early team member of a venture-backed digital health start-up.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and build new features across the stack in an agile & collaborative environment
• Evaluate technical & product tradeoffs, and translate product goals into code
• Write well-documented & tested code
• Help define high-quality software engineering standards and practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building full stack web applications
• Passion for user experience (you care about small design details) as well as experience of frontend technologies across the web
• A structured approach to development, testing, documentation, and code structure
• Clear communicator with ability to explain trade offs to non-engineers
• Ability to quickly learn new tools & technologies as product requirements evolve
• A love of types (& deep familiarity with Typescript)
• Experience with setting up infrastructure on AWS
