Job Description

The Senior Solutions Architect reports to the Director of Technical Solutions and is a member of the Sales and Solutions team. The Senior Solutions Architect is a customer-facing role that is responsible for engaging with the customer or prospect to understand the technical aspects of their immediate need and the approach and scope of potential solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and skills are considered mature or advanced within the job family. Manages large or complex activities/ projects. Manages multiple projects and priorities.

  • Has full autonomy to deliver to predefined accountabilities. Makes decisions requiring significant analysis and interpretation. Modifies methods, techniques, and procedures to achieve desired results.

  • Works under general direction with respect to business objectives and company philosophy. Output is trusted as accurate and generally sound. Consults with others as required on highly specialized or sensitive matters.

  • Leads/manages projects and usually provides technical guidance to less experienced staff. Leadership is focused on the technical aspects of the job, rather than the people management aspects.

1. Proposal and Communication of Approach

  • Understands the nature of the business problem facing the prospect

  • Understands technical, situational and budgetary constraints affecting the proposed solution.

  • Collaborates with key SMEs and senior staff to validate technical solutions

  • Proposes technically feasible approaches and solutions that support the clients’ business cases and are in line with industry practices

  • Able to respond quickly to hard deadlines and meet commitments

  • Finds and proposes approaches that effectively balance the needs of Macadamian and the client

  • Exhibits excellence in both written and oral communication and is cognizant of the sales and solutions process

  • Communicates with the appropriate level of transparency and timeliness

  • Is comfortable presenting proposals to clients as part of the sales and solutions process

  • Understands when and why to propose face to face planning sessions (workshops) to de-risk and increase the likelihood of winning business

  • Is able to contribute to collaborative workshops

 

2. Technical knowledge

  • Understands a variety of development processes and how to communicate the advantages, trade-offs and reasoning for each approach.

  • Is current and competent in established and emerging technologies for mobile, web, cloud, data, voice and technical integration

  • 8+ years of experience in developing complex software applications and systems using technologies such as ASP.Net, C#, C++, Java, Python, Angular, Javascript

  • Knowledge of data modelling and advanced database concepts

  • Knowledge of cloud, data and analytics concepts

  • Knowledge of regulatory and technical aspects related to protecting and managing sensitive information such as PII and PHI

  • Knowledge of integration technologies such as HL7, FHIR, Integration Engines would be an asset

  • Experienced and comfortable with project estimation and planning

  • Knowledge and ability to objectively discussion and reason about the tradeoffs between technical alternatives

  • Independent, self-directed learner driven by the needs of clients and Macadamian as well as personal interest

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a technical discipline, at least 10 years relevant experience, or equivalent

  • At least 5 years of experience in customer facing roles
