Pumphouse Point is an adults-only retreat nestled on Lake St Clair, just 2.5 hours from Hobart. This hidden gem features 21 rooms in two converted heritage buildings, offering an intimate escape in World Heritage wilderness. Only 10 minutes away, the Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel boasts soaring ceilings, exposed beams, and a grand double-sided fireplace at the heart of its bar and restaurant—perfect for relaxing by the fire, enjoying a meal, and sipping a drink in a classic alpine pub.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the Food & Beverage operation across both properties, ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional and memorable dining experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a passionate hospitality professional who thrives on creating genuine guest connections and developing high-performing teams. You'll lead from the floor, coach and mentor your team, champion service excellence, and bring Tasmania's stories, produce and places to life through outstanding food and beverage experiences.

You'll be equally comfortable welcoming guests, supporting a busy service, coordinating group dining experiences, managing rosters and budgets, and driving operational excellence across both venues.

What you’ll do:

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Food & Beverage Supervisors and Attendants to deliver exceptional guest experiences
• Oversee the day-to-day food and beverage operations across Pumphouse Point and Derwent Bridge Hotel
• Create memorable and personalised dining experiences by connecting guests with the local region through storytelling and hospitality
• Lead service delivery across breakfast, lunch, dinner, bar, events and group functions
• Actively drive revenue growth through upselling, cross-selling and enhancing the food and beverage offering
• Manage rostering, labour costs, payroll processes and workforce planning
• Ensure high standards of presentation, cleanliness and service are maintained at all times
• Oversee events and group bookings, ensuring seamless delivery from setup through to service
• Manage guest feedback and proactively resolve service issues to exceed expectations
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and business planning activities
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing team development
• Maintain food safety compliance, licensing requirements and operational standards
• Manage POS systems, daily transactions and administrative requirements
• Work collaboratively with accommodation, maintenance and leadership teams to deliver a seamless guest experience

What you’ll bring:  

• Previous leadership experience within a quality food and beverage, hotel, resort or tourism operation
• A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop team members
• Experience managing busy restaurant, bar or multi-outlet food and beverage operations
• Demonstrated ability to drive revenue through upselling, cross-selling and service excellence
• Knowledge of contemporary food, beverage and service trends
• Strong knowledge of wine and food pairings, with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience with staff rostering, labour management and operational reporting
• Current RSA (or ability to obtain)
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Certificate IV in Hospitality or similar qualification (highly regarded)
• Experience working in premium tourism, boutique hotels, luxury lodges or remote hospitality operations (highly regarded)
• Knowledge of MICROS, Materials Control or similar hospitality systems (highly regarded)
• Experience managing events, conference groups or premium dining experiences (highly regarded)
