Guests are invited to explore the wilderness of the West Coast as they cruise up the Gordon River and take a walk through the temperate rainforest of the Franklin - Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Our two vessels have been purpose-built with the local environment and outstanding guest experience in mind. Spirit of the Wild, our newest vessel, features an Australian first: quiet cruising in World Heritage wilderness. Job Description

  • We are seeking vibrant, nature-loving people to join our team as casual Wilderness Cruise Guides

What you’ll do:

More than a tour guide, you'll be a storyteller, host and ambassador for one of Tasmania's most remarkable natural environments. Through engaging commentary, personal interactions and authentic storytelling, you'll connect guests to the rich history, culture, people and landscapes of the Gordon River region, helping create memories that will last a lifetime.

We're looking for individuals who share our passion for Tasmania's wild and remote places and can inspire visitors through meaningful conversations and memorable experiences. Whether you're sharing fascinating local stories, introducing guests to Tasmania's unique produce, or helping them discover the significance of the places they visit, you'll play a key role in bringing the journey to life.

As part of our onboard crew, you'll also contribute to the smooth operation of each cruise by delivering exceptional hospitality, assisting with guest services, supporting vessel operations and maintaining the highest standards of safety and presentation.

On a daily basis you'll:

  • Deliver engaging commentary and interpretive storytelling 
  • Create memorable visitor experiences through genuine one-on-one and small group interactions.
  • Provide exceptional food and beverage service, showcasing Tasmania's renowned local produce.
  • Welcome guests onboard, assist with boarding, seating and passenger services throughout the cruise.
  • Support vessel operations, including berthing, departures, docking and mooring activities.
  • Monitor guest safety and comfort while supervising public areas and outdoor viewing decks.
  • Participate in safety drills, training and emergency response activities.
  • Maintain high presentation standards through general cleaning and vessel upkeep.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support compliance with WH&S standards and procedures.

What you’ll bring:  

  • A reputation for providing excellent customer service, engaging in great conversations with our guests
  • A vibrant attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team
  • Level 2 – Workplace First Aid Certificate ​
  • Tasmanian or National Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or ability to acquire​
  • Elements of Shipboard Safety (ESS) or similar or ability to acquire​
  • Do Food Safely certificate of completion
  • Passion for Tasmania's culture, environment, food and local stories.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service, with an interest in Tasmanian wines, beers and spirits.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to create genuine connections with guests.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with diverse audiences.
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding visitor experiences.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety standards and lead others during an emergency​

Highly desirable:

  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Tourism or Guiding or equivalent​
  • Experience in theatrical performances or public speaking to deliver an engaging guest experience​
  • Experience working with ropes and gangways to berth or moor a vessel, or ability to learn​
