Job Description

What you’ll do: 

Reporting to the Group Maintenance Manager and working closely with the General Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the maintenance and grounds function at Strahan Village. Leading a team of Grounds & Maintenance Attendants, you'll play a key role in ensuring our accommodation, facilities, infrastructure and guest areas are maintained to the highest standard.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work alongside your team while coordinating maintenance activities, managing contractors, driving preventative maintenance programs and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. You'll be a self-motivated leader who enjoys solving problems, developing people and taking pride in creating a safe, well-maintained environment for guests and team members alike.

A level of fitness is required to meet the physical demands of the role, along with a resilient, practical and can-do attitude. We're seeking an experienced full-time Maintenance Supervisor looking to make a long-term impact within our business. Staff accommodation is also available.

On a daily basis you’ll: 

  • Lead, coach and support a team of Grounds & Maintenance Attendants to deliver high standards across the property.
  • Coordinate and participate in daily maintenance and grounds activities.
  • Organise, prioritise and delegate tasks to maximise productivity and ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Schedule, monitor and complete preventative maintenance programs across buildings, plant and equipment.
  • Carry out general maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting across guest rooms, public areas, grounds and back-of-house facilities.
  • Assist with building projects, renovations and major repairs, including painting, basic plumbing, mechanical repairs and replacing fixtures and hardware.
  • Manage contractors on-site and maintain records for essential services in line with Australian Standards.
  • Monitor maintenance resources, equipment and inventory to support efficient operations.
  • Manage team rosters, attendance and payroll processes in accordance with employment conditions.
  • Provide maintenance advice and recommendations to property leadership.
  • Foster a positive safety culture by promoting compliance with NRMA's WH&S framework and proactively managing risks.
  • Liaise with internal departments, contractors and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of maintenance services.

What you’ll bring:   

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a hospitality maintenance, facilities management or similar role.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience, with a proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience maintaining buildings, plant and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating contractors and maintenance programs.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety principles and risk management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently while maintaining attention to detail.

Highly desirable:

  • Trade qualification, vocational qualification or relevant certifications.
  • Previous experience within hospitality, accommodation, tourism or facilities management.
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • Confined Space certification.
