Job Description

What you’ll do:
Join the team at our in-house resort restaurant, Tides Kitchen and Bar. From relaxed breakfasts to pool side, or in-room service, to evening dining, our restaurant celebrates coastal flavours in a laidback resort setting.
- Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking.
- Oversee and train kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan menus and create daily specials, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain accurate records to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly.
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation before serving.
- Help manage kitchen costs and minimise waste through efficient food preparation and inventory control.
- Assist with team rosters in line with budgets and the Hospitality Award (HIGA).
What you’ll bring:
- Hands-on (minimum 5 years) experience in kitchen operations with a clear understanding of the logistics of restaurants and functions catering
- Formal qualifications in commercial cookery or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen
- Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring a team while fostering a positive and productive work environment
- A passion for your trade and for creating and presenting contemporary dishes using local produce
- Excellent organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated computer literacy, particularly with common office applications
- DoFoodSafely Certificate of completion
- Flexible attitude to work hours over a 7-day roster
