Job Description

As the Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits) Analyst, you will be the primary builder of compensation programs that properly and fairly reward a growing team of MXers. You’ll engage regularly with company leadership as a thought partner, helping to shape compensation programs that drive performance, engagement and satisfaction of our world-class team. You need to be a person with enough expertise to architect job catalogs and market-based pay structures, and have enough passion to keep your hands in the daily details of new hire offers, salary survey submissions, and quarterly merit reviews. Additionally, you’ll be a key player in the successful execution of our comprehensive benefits package.

Your time will be spent primarily in the compensation space, especially as you help build a mature and scalable foundation of compensation structures and programs. Although your benefits knowledge will be put to good use, your compensation expertise will be critical to your success.

What you’ll get to do…

  • Design, implement, and enhance core compensation programs (primarily base pay programs), including market-based pay ranges, job leveling, job architecture, and salary surveys

  • Maintain and iterate regular compensation tasks and processes, including new hire offers, promotions, and quarterly merit reviews

  • Move compensation projects (like a leveling framework, job architecture, job description library) from concept to plan to practice, and then make iterative improvements

  • Leverage internal and external data, metrics, and dashboards to monitor effectiveness of total rewards practices and illuminate areas of improvement

  • Support the successful execution of annual open enrollment for benefits and renewal proceedings with brokers/carriers

  • Troubleshoot configuration and process errors for compensation and benefit tasks in Workday

  • Ensure rewards practices, reporting, and classification are compliant with state and federal regulations (like FLSA and Title VII) in all locations in which MX operates

  • Other compensation and benefit projects that arise as part of a rapidly growing company

Qualifications

You’ll do it using your…

  • Demonstrated expertise and competence in compensation plan design and execution of cyclical compensation practices like merit and salary surveys

  • Solid background in designing and executing compensation programs

  • Experience in conducting 3 and more annual compensation cycles in the tech industry

  • Fluency in the principles, practices, and models of the compensation profession

  • Wicked sharp analytical skills, including excellent spreadsheet skills

  • Strong working knowledge of market trends and regulatory landscape in the compensation and benefits space

  • Ability to handle a rotating load of multiple projects, while keeping momentum on each

  • Capacity to deliver quality results in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment

  • Direct experience with published salary surveys like the Radford Global Tech survey (strongly preferred)

  • Competence in the workings of medical, dental, vision, and insurance benefit plans--both fully insured and self-funded (strongly preferred)

  • Great experience in Workday (strongly preferred)

  • Certified expertise in compensation and/or benefits (big plus)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related course of study (big plus)

You’ll fit in by…

  • Getting stuff done!

  • Caring not just about what you do, but how you do it

  • Demonstrating an oddly intense attention to detail

  • Relentlessly chasing excellence in process and impact

  • Collaborating productively with other departments and MX leaders

  • Showing comfort in ambiguity and a founder’s mindset

  • Desiring honest feedback--even when it hurts

You’ll love it because…

  • This is not a cog-turner job; you’ll be a strategic partner and a skilled builder

  • Your work has a direct impact on every MX team member

  • You have access to gold-standard systems and tools to do your job

  • We care about impact and results, not politics and games

  • You will work with and learn from peers who will challenge and inspire you

  • The generous rewards package including stellar benefits, perks, free meals, and unlimited PTO

  • MX is the most mission-driven, value-based culture you’ve ever experienced
