Job Description
As the Platform Engineering Lead, you will be a critical leader responsible for building and managing our cloud-native platform infrastructure on AWS. You will ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and optimized to meet the demands of a fast-paced financial services environment.
Collaborating with software and data engineering, security, and product teams, you will define and execute a strategic vision for platform engineering while driving operational excellence and innovation.
You Will:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the platform engineering roadmap to support business growth and technological innovation.
- Ensure alignment between platform engineering goals and overall business objectives.
- Advocate for best practices in cloud-native development, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Platform Development & Management
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of AWS-based infrastructure to support critical financial services applications.
- Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of the platform through architecture best practices.
- Provide a developer platform to software engineers based on the company’s service catalogue and best practises
- Security & Compliance
- Embed security and compliance principles into platform design and operations, ensuring adherence to industry regulations such GDPR, SOC1 and SOC 2.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement advanced monitoring, and alerting to support applications that demand high availability and resiliency
- Team Leadership & Development
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing platform engineering team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Define and monitor KPIs to measure team performance and platform reliability.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with engineering, data, and product teams to align on infrastructure needs and deployment strategies.
- Act as a technical advisor to executive leadership, providing insights into platform performance and innovation opportunities.
- Manage vendor relationships with AWS and other technology providers to optimize services and costs.
- Operational Excellence
- Drive automation in deployment pipelines, monitoring, and incident response.
- Implement and refine SRE practices, including Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
- Own platform cost management, driving efficiency in cloud resource utilization.
- FinOps Initiatives
- Lead the adoption of FinOps principles to enhance visibility and accountability for cloud spending across teams.
- Implement and manage tools to monitor, forecast, and analyze cloud expenditures.
- Collaborate with engineering, and product teams to ensure cost-effective resource utilization without compromising performance.
- Drive initiatives to optimize cloud usage, including automated resource scaling, workload right-sizing, and identifying unused resources.
- Establish governance processes to align cloud spending with business priorities while promoting financial discipline.

Qualifications
You Have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, or cloud architecture roles.
- Proven expertise in designing and managing AWS cloud-native architectures.
- Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries will be considered an advantage
- Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of core AWS services, including EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, FSX, AWS Transfer Family, CloudFront and Control Tower.
- Strong proficiency in DevOps tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and tools like AWS IAM, KMS, Snyk, AWS WAF and GuardDuty.
- Advanced understanding of services architecture, serverless design, and containerization.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog.
- Leadership Skills:
- Exceptional ability to lead platform engineering teams and influence stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex, high-stakes environments.
- Proven track record of developing talent and building collaborative engineering cultures.
