Senior Mechanical Engineer – Houston 290 near Beltway

Our client, an Engineering & Procurement company in Houston, Texas has an immediate need for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to support their Design and Engineering Department.  They specialize in offering custom-engineered packages and provide services to the Upstream and Downstream Oil & Gas Industry, globally.  Their core areas are: Air Compression, Nitrogen Generation, Gas Compression & Gas Processing and Treatment.

 

The successful candidate must have proven experience in the following areas: 

 

Responsibilities & Requirements:

-          Perform Basic Engineering design for packaged equipment

−         Compressor sizing, frame and cylinder selection using OEM software

−         Preliminary Sizing of auxiliary equipment: air coolers, pumps, vessels, heat exchangers

−         Line sizing, P & ID development including instrumentation and control schemes

−         Development of Control Philosophy

-          Perform Detailed Engineering design for packaged equipment

−         Develop Technical Inquiry Requisition of Packages, Review and perform technical evaluation of sub-vendor quotes for equipment, controls: compressors, air coolers, vessels, pumps, heat exchangers & control panels.

−         Create Technical Purchase Requisition Packages for equipment, controls and Instrumentation.

−         Prepare Engineering Deliverables: Design Calculations, Equipment and Instrument Datasheets, General arrangement Drawings, P & ID’s, Inspection and Test Plans, O & M Manuals, Instrument Schedule etc. in conformance to customer specifications, industrial codes, standards and practices.

−         Provide technical document packages to the shop for fabrication and assembly.

−         Revise engineering documents in line with customer comments and translate changes to technical documents issued to the shop.

-          Provide technical support to Project Managers / Engineers for packaged equipment: generate details for shop fabrication, provide technical details and vendor data to mechanical designer for 3D model preparation and updating.

-          Participate and take the lead in technical discussions with sub-vendors and customers.

-          Provide Engineering Support for other value addition projects involving fabrication & assembly, modified / actuated valves, piping components, instrumentation and electrical products.

-          Provide technical support to start up and commissioning activities.

-          Support Project manager / Engineer in technical aspects of Inspection coordination, review of material test reports, shop traveler, non-destructive examination reports etc.

-          Travel to domestic or international destinations as required for technical discussions with customer, for field support as necessary.

Qualifications

 ·          Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience encompassing packaged equipment design, engineering, materials and fabrication of process equipment supporting Oil and Gas Industry.

·          Relevant experience in Rotating Equipment Engineering is highly desired.

·          Basic understanding of Static Equipment.

·          Basic understanding of Control systems, Instrumentation & Electrical systems.

·          Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, API, NACE standards for Oil and Gas applications.

·          Working knowledge of procedures of engineering companies and oil and gas projects.
