Job Description
The Transport Supervisor will be responsible for managing and optimizing all inland vehicle distribution flows from ports and compounds to dealers across Spain.
This role is critical to ensure fast, reliable, cost-efficient and damage-free deliveries, supporting the company’s rapid growth and high service level expectations.
The Transport Supervisor will coordinate transport providers, monitor performance, ensure JIT deliveries, and drive continuous improvement in inland logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport Operations Management
- Plan, coordinate and supervise all vehicle movements from ports (Barcelona, Málaga, etc.) and compounds to dealers.
- Ensure optimal load factors, routing efficiency and transport capacity utilization.
- Monitor daily transport execution and resolve operational issues in real time.
Carrier Management & Performance Control
- Manage relationships with transport providers (car carriers, rail operators if applicable).
- Monitor KPIs such as lead time, delivery accuracy, damages, cost per unit and load factor.
- Ensure compliance with contractual SLAs and trigger corrective actions when needed.
JIT Delivery & Dealer Satisfaction
- Guarantee Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery to dealers, aligned with sales and registration targets.
- Ensure full visibility and proactive communication with dealers regarding delivery status.
- Coordinate priority shipments (e.g., Rent-a-Car, high-volume campaigns).
Cost Optimization & Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to reduce transport cost through:
- Load factor improvements (e.g., 8–9 vehicles per truck)
- Route optimization and backhauls
- Modal shift opportunities (e.g., rail solutions)
- Support logistics tenders and rate negotiations with data-driven insights.
Planning & Forecasting
- Align transport capacity with inbound volumes from ports and PDI throughput.
- Anticipate peaks and ensure sufficient resources during high-demand periods.
- Coordinate closely with port, compound and sales teams.
Digitalization & Reporting
- Track and analyze transport performance using digital tools and dashboards (Excel, Power BI).
- Improve visibility and automation across the transport network.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management with clear KPIs and action plans.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify operational inefficiencies and propose improvement initiatives.
- Support the implementation of corporate logistics standards and best practices.
- Drive innovation in inland distribution (sustainability, CO₂ reduction, efficiency).
- Cover the other logistics areas like Ports and compounds.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- University degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in transport or logistics operations (automotive sector highly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of inland vehicle distribution and transport networks in Spain
- Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis (Power BI is a plus)
- Experience managing transport providers and KPIs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Fluent in English and Spanish
