Job Description

The main purpose of this position is to drive and manage Warranty Spend Reduction work streams for the POWERTRAIN function, in line with key performance deliverables and customer expectations, to ensure the business plan, targets and objectives are met and exceeded.

Key Reporting Measures :

Deliver warranty cost and spend targets for coverage and non-coverage warranty by using the Warranty Reduction Tools check list & driving corrective actions.

The key measurables are:

  • Warranty Spend Reduction Targets
  • Warranty Spend Cost per Unit Targets
  • Optimised Service Fix Implementation Plan (OSF)
  • Supplier Recovery Targets (support)

Key Tasks:

  • Identify and drive warranty spend reduction projects
  • Identify emerging issues and support VFGs in getting parts back & testing for problem definition.
  • Attend engine teardown meetings, participate in engine selection and understand key failure modes and fixes
  • Review 4 Boxers/Checklist with team and identify/ escalate risk to achieve end of year targets.
  • Lead PAT/PST meetings to prioritise and drive warranty spend workstreams
  • Generate ideas and use OSF list and track opportunities.
  • Track manufacturing ICA/PCA/PRA actions for P703/U704 and other vehicle lines to improve quality and reduce spend
  • Lead Project Steering Teams (PST) and Project Activity Teams (PAT)
  • Support regular meeting cadence for: Problem Definition, Optimised Service Fix, Functional Quality reviews (FQR), Product Development Quality Reviews, Field Service Quality Reviews. Ranger Everest Quality Review (REQR) as required
  • Any other reasonable duties that are relevant or appropriate to this role as directed.

Major Areas of Responsibility.

  • Warranty Spend Targets.
  • Reduce warranty cost & spend to equal or exceed the business plan targets
  • Scope, define and drive warranty reduction actions and processes
  • Manage and track the roadmap actions
  • Identify and drive implementation of PCA (Permanent Corrective Actions) and CPR (Cost Per Repair) Actions utilizing the roadmap and other tools
  • Review Checklists and drive actions for key causal components claims using the Critical X process
  • Manage functional projects and stakeholders to ensure rapid closure and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Track and monitor performance of corrective actions to realise warranty reduction by thorough data analysis and reporting.

Warranty Spend Cost per unit targets.

  • Track warranty cost per unit (CPU) for the Powertrain QB
  • Align with VFG leaders on contributions and actions required to meet CPU targets. Track these actions to achieve targets.

Optimised Service Fix (OSF)
Drive and support OSF work stream processes across the business to maintain momentum of spend reduction in line with business plan objectives.

Supplier Recovery Targets.

  • Identify opportunities and support supplier recovery cases in co-operation with Supplier Recovery Team.

Meet timing due dates for filing of key presentations/documents.

  • Manage and ensure meeting agendas & meeting minutes are generated, finalised and submitted for approval, distribution & filing by due dates.
  • Manage and ensure all PowerPoint decks are completed and submitted for approval, distribution & filing by due date.
  • Ensure any other documents or reports are completed by requested due date.

Participate and support regular meeting cadence for key meetings.

  • Project management and leadership of PAT (Project Activity Team) meetings on a regular cadence to drive warranty reduction outcomes.
  • Agenda setting, participate/lead PST (Project Steering Team) meetings on regular cadence to ensure exposure of help needed items are resolved.
  • Actively participate and support the Functional Quality reviews, PD Quality Reviews, Field Service Quality Reviews.

Support Client Objectives

  • Client focused role requires a timely response to support ad hoc client requests in adding value and insight
  • Support client waste reduction initiatives

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years’ experience in automotive engineering
  • Automotive Knowledge - whole vehicle with experience in powertrain
  • Ready to facilitate ad-hoc testing of vehicle components
  • Experience in collecting and reviewing vehicle data
  • Ability to create and analyse business cases
  • High level Excel proficiency
  • Experience in leading and motivating teams
  • Project management within Automotive Engineering
