Job Description

Position Summary
Manage usage and allocation of MPC Film digital resources, render and data storage, and perform associated administrative tasks to ensure the resource needs of production are met.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Dynamic management of farm resources based on forecasted allocation and production deadlines.
  • Promptly responding to incoming issues and requests from artists and production.
  • Error checking and troubleshooting technical problems related to render and data management.
  • Coordinating communication between Production, Systems and Render TDs for render issues.
  • Coordinating communication between artists, Production and Editorial to make sure data issues and needs are addressed.
  • Creating and distributing regular reports.
  • Scripting tools to automate common tasks and improve workflow.
  • Dynamic management of farm resources based on forecasted allocation and production deadlines.
  • Global support, at times providing coverage for other MPC Film sites after-hours and on weekends.
  • Coordinating the data transfers between MPC sites around the world.
  • Managing data to ensure storage resources are used efficiently and safety limits are not exceeded.
  • Archiving and restoring data.
  • Data format conversions to ensure MPC standards are adhered to.
  • Following standard operating procedures.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • An interest in developing skills and progression within visual effects.
  • At least one years' experience of using PC, Mac or Linux
  • Knowledge of basic scripting would be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of video formats and ways in which assets are received/delivered
  • Ability to rapidly pick up and learn new tools and techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, occasionally high pressure environment
  • An interest in a service desk environment and service desk processes
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise work loads
  • Problem analysing and problem solving
  • Willingness to do shift-work
  • An awareness of security principles and procedures
