Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Junior Engineer for our Production Operations team to configure, operate and improve data- and image-processing modules in our digital asset management system. This is a varied role to support the daily activities in the department and includes liaising with show production, software, editorial, imaging, data and render operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Job setup and production pipeline configuration and maintenance
  • Managing the automated Data I/O for the Editorial department
  • Ingestion, Internal Dailies and Client Sends Configuration

                o Image manipulation (resolution, masking, burn-ins, slates, etc.)

                o Colour transformations

                o Quicktime generation

                o file naming and organisation

  • Testing, ensuring quality control of all configuration and images produced
  • Troubleshooting operational issues, liaising with Software and Render support
  • Working closely with the Software department to ensure work is in line with MPC’s coding standards

  • Supporting Render and Data operations with additional scripting and data management
  • Production Operations/Editorial Tool support and development
  • Identifying changing requirements, recommending solutions

  • Technical documentation

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A strong commitment to quality, service and reliability
  • Proficient un the use of Linux command line
  • Understanding of vieo encoding and image processing
  • Understanding of basic colour science (colour spaces, LUTs)
  • Basic skills in Python
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise work loads, problem analaysing and solving
  • Previous experience in a VFX environment would be an advantage
  • Any knowledge of RV, Nuje and other digital content creation software would be an advantage but not essential
