Job Description

This role provides production support for job pipeline setup, with particular attention to color pipeline setup and management, editorial support, and data ingest/output. A successful candidate should have a strong eye for detail, and strong communication skills, as this is bridging and support role between Editorial, Imaging, Software Pipeline Support, Render and Production.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support for film and video color pipelines
  • Image manipulation (resolution, masking, burn-ins, slates, reformatting, color transformation, etc)
  • Video encoding
  • Ingestion and Internal Dailies Configuration and Support
  • Client Sends (External Dailies) Configuration and Support
  • Tool configuration and testing
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Ensuring quality control of all configuration and images produced
  • Troubleshooting operational issues, liaising with support teams
  • Identifying changing requirements, recommending and implementing solutions
  • Assisting artists with general imaging issues
  • Assisting editorial with ingestion and output pipelines
  • Internal tools development for automation and efficiency

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • An understanding of LUTs, color management and basic color science
  • Working knowledge of image file formats related to Visual Effects (dpx, exr, 8-bit formats)
  • Knowledge of video encoding and transcoding
  • Proficient in the use of Linux command line
  • Working knowledge of configuration formats: xml, yaml, etc.
  • Basic programming skills in Python
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • A strong commitment to quality, service and reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritize workloads, problem analyzing and solving

Additional Information

Desired:

  • Knowledge of ‘digital-film’ cameras and associated colorimetry
  • Knowledge of on-set and DI grading
  • Knowledge of HDR and camera raw formats used in stills photography and digital film cameras
  • Understanding of video encoding and image processing
  • Working knowledge of Nuke and RV
  • Any knowledge of Mac environment and Quicktime would be an advantage but not essential
  • Strong Python programming skills would be an advantage, but not essential
  • System automation skills
  • Previous experience in a VFX environment would be an advantage
