Job Description

As a valuable member of Security Operations, you will be part of the management team of the security department delivering security services for all Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. properties, events, people, and assets. Your leadership, passion, and dedication to teamwork will contribute to inspiring others and living our vision and values delivering outstanding safety and security services and customer support. Although this is a management position, it is also a hands-on role. The Assistant Manager, Security Operations will be an integral part of the overall MLSE security operation. This position requires irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends depending on the events and activities in all MLSE venues.

  • Lead, run, develop, motivate, and empower the department’s security services staff.
  • Ensure the provision of outstanding, professional security operations.
  • Lead by example in team management and development, utilizing a “one team” approach; ensure departmental integrity and winning vision delivered.
  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures for all events run by MLSE.
  • Lead all aspects of and handle third-party contractors.
  • Recruit, train, retain and performance manage a large part of the hourly security team.
  • Act as ‘Manager on Duty’ representing Security services as deployed at MLSE venues.
  • Project management as designated, subject to operational needs.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for security services.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day security management issues as they arise in the absence of senior management.
  • Conduct quality control audits.
  • Adhere to MLSE service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Perform other related duties as the need arises.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in security services or related field.
  • 1-2 years of leadership experience.
  • Shown ability to listen, understand, and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop professional relationships.
  • Solid understanding of basic security systems such as CCTV, access control.
  • Sports & Entertainment environment experience is a definite asset.
  • Experience in public relations and risk management an asset.
  • Both a team builder and team player who can relate professionally to all levels.
  • Ability to enhance and lead a positive, innovative, and encouraging work environment.
  • Shown ability to perform well under pressure; balance multiple priorities at a time.
  • Ongoing awareness and responsiveness to client satisfaction.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Confident user of MS Office 2000 and XP, particularly Excel.
  • Possession of a valid Security License (Bill C-159) an asset.
  • Aware of local laws and regulations related to Security Operations.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, or nights as deployed/instructed.
