Job Description
The Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis will be responsible for the oversight of the financial planning & analysis for MLSE. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role plays an integral role in MLSE’s business planning, forecasting, and strategic planning cycles. This role requires a broad strategic mindset, thought leadership, executive presence, strong analytical skills, financial planning skills, a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
As the Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis, you will oversee a team that will provide budget, forecasting, and cross-functional finance support. You will also work closely with MLSE’s executive team, business unit leaders, department heads, and key stakeholders to develop and implement short- and long-term financial models and strategies that align with the company’s strategic and financial objectives. In addition, you will provide valuable analytical insights and decision-making support to facilitate the achievement of our financial targets and drive overall business performance. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving continuous improvement.
Joining a well-established team, this role requires a strong leader to further develop and drive the finance and operational functions to contribute strongly to the company’s overall strategic plan.
Department Oversight:
Work closely with management and the senior finance team to review operational and financial results.
Monitor and analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators, including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and capital expenditures.
Drive accountability through the annual budgeting and forecast process by coordinating with budget owners to set financial targets, measuring progress, and proposing alternative solutions when necessary.
Present budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to the Senior Leadership Team on a regular and timely basis; communicate key trends and observations; make recommendations and champion opportunities to improve performance.
Improve performance by evaluating processes to improve efficiencies and understand ROI.
Implement scenario planning practices into overall planning processes, surfacing risks and opportunities to business and financial objectives.
Improve on various FP&A process by streamlining existing processes and leveraging automation where possible with existing or new financial tools.
Corporate Budgeting, Forecasting and Strategic Planning:
Coordinate the annual budget planning cycle.
Prepare and present annual targets to departments/groups and consolidate the overall budget.
Meet with department heads to discuss budget increase requests and new initiatives.
Prepare Plan package to be mailed out to the Board of Directors for approval.
Review rolling forecast prepared by finance business partners to ensure it is aligned with the expectations of management and departments.
Review and update 3-year Strat Plan, annually
Engage finance business partners and department heads to review 3-year outlook to ensure the latest financial targets are communicated to upper management and the Board.
Team Leadership and Development:
Provide strong leadership to the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Set performance objectives, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide guidance and mentorship to team members
Develop and implement professional development plans to enhance the skills and capabilities of the finance team

Qualifications

- An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance, with a CPA designation.
- 15+ years’ experience working in Finance & Accounting.
- 8+ years of leading a dynamic and high-performing team with a focus on coaching for influence.
- Proven track record leading Finance and Accounting within high-growth dynamic organization.
- Experienced learner with sound and strategic planning, forecasting, problem-solving, analytical, financial modeling, and technical skills; must have the ability to achieve operational excellence through others.
- Solid knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management practices.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Superior leadership and management skills; able to lead a team and handle multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results.
- Driven, self-starter, enthusiastic learner.
