Job Description

Our organization is seeking a full-time contract Manager, Game Presentation for the Toronto Maple Leaf’s. The Manager, Game Presentation will work under the guidance of the Creative Director and Executive Producer and will have the responsibility of directing and overseeing the game presentation of all home games. The focus of the role will be on enhancing fan engagement, integrating players, creating high-quality video productions, innovating with technology, and selecting music. As part of this role, the Manager, Game Presentation will also work with the Toronto Marlies, and will be required to seamlessly transition between both teams.

Position: Full-time, 12-Month Contract 

  • Direct the game presentation at all Toronto Maple Leaf home games with an emphasis on the 5 areas of focus - Fan Engagement, Player Integration, Video Production, Technology & Innovation, and Music.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of all in-arena and on-ice entertainment activities & talent including the mascot, Game Crew, Interactive Squad, Skate team, Public address announcer, organist, hosts, DJ, and additional entertainers.
  • Plan and execute all pregame, in-game, and post-game activities, promotions, and related concourse activations.
  • Develop and produce in-arena video & player content and fan engagement entertainment elements.
  • Oversee presentation for the Toronto Marlies.
  • Manage the budget and team inventory for TML & Marlies.
  • Oversee all intermission shows and anthem talent roster.
  • Oversee and lead (hire, schedule, mentor, and evaluate) all full-time and contract staff members.
  • Work closely with the Global Partnerships team to produce all partner promotions and ensure all are executed in accordance with sponsor objectives and team philosophies.
  • Work closely with the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion department to implement an educational and inclusive in-game experience.
  • Assist Talent Manager in developing, coaching, and scheduling talent.
  • Negotiate with outside suppliers for goods and services, as required.
  • Research and record NHL/sports methods and best practices in game. presentations and special events; maintain our standing as an outstanding organization.
  • Present all games and events in a quality manner keeping in mind our Vision & Values.
  • Communicate all game night requirements to the appropriate departments.
  • Assist with other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Sports Management, Marketing, Event Planning, or 3+ years of related experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience with game operations/presentation including directing or “show-calling” a game/event.
  • Proven experience managing and motivating a team.
  • A CREATIVE “big thinker” who can generate and execute new concepts and ideas.
  • Must have a high level of HOCKEY knowledge.
  • Must be informed on the current Leafs team and its history.
  • A high level of initiative, utilizing good judgment and common sense.
  • Proven to perform well under pressure; manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Available to work all game nights/weekends as required.
