Job Description

As Sr. Manager, FP&A and Accounting, you will oversee the financial planning & analysis and accounting function for several essential business functions, including Global Partnership, Ticket Sales, Suites and VIP Hospitality and Retention. Furthermore, this individual will play an integral role in MLSE’s business planning, forecasting and planning cycles.

This role will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management which will include performing new business analysis, preparing board presentations, financial presentations, and cash flow analysis. This role will also support finance leadership in balancing and consolidating financial output from our reporting system, Oracle. The successful candidate will have a consistent record of driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with management and the senior finance team to review operational and financial results
  • Monitor and analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators, including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
  • Present budgets, forecasts and variance analyses to the Senior Leadership Team on a regular and timely basis; communicate key trends and observations; make recommendations and champion opportunities to improve performance
  • Engage Finance CSRs and department heads to review 3-year outlook to ensure latest financial targets are communicated to upper management and the Board
  • Prepare Plan package to be mailed out to the Board of Directors for approval
  • Review rolling forecast prepared by finance CSRs to ensure it is aligned with expectations of management and departments
  • Review and update 3-year Strat Plan, annually
  • Evaluate processes to improve efficiencies and understand return on investment
  • Review accounting close for key business functions
  • Ensure timely reporting of actual results
  • Coordinate the annual budget planning cycle
  • Prepare and present annual targets to departments/groups and consolidate overall budget
  • Meet with department heads to discuss budget increase requests and new initiatives

  • An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, with a CPA designation is an asset
  • Proven experience working in Finance & Accounting
  • Experience leading multifaceted a dynamic and impactful team with a focus on mentoring for influence
  • Consistent record leading Finance and Accounting within a high-growth multifaceted organization
  • Expert learner with sound planning, forecasting, problem-solving, analytical, financial modelling and technical skills; must have the ability to achieve operational excellence through others
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results
