Job Description

MLSE is looking for an innovative, detail-oriented leader to join our team as the Media Asset Manager. In this role, you will report to the Director of Content Distribution and lead the Media Assets Management team, overseeing MLSE’s libraries and collections of digital and media assets. There is never a dull moment in this role, in addition to leading the multi-service MAM team which acts as a central hub of all things content at MLSE, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and support all of MLSE’s sports teams. The ideal candidate is an agile, process-driven leader with cross-functional skills who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Lead a team of full-time and part-time staff; including training, talent development, performance evaluation, scheduling and assigning specific tasks to ensure business needs are met
  • Manage vendor partner relationships as well as collaborate and consult with internal teams on infrastructure management, technical integrations, workflow processes, and future planning across MAM, DAM and creative studios, including the maintenance, evolution, updating and upgrading of hardware/software tools
  • Work with MLSE teams to monitor, train and ensure digital rights management and rights governance best practices and processes are being followed
  • Oversee design, execution and evolution of asset management strategies and workflows as it relates to MLSE’s media and digital libraries
  • Oversee storage and archive management for all studios using current MAM and DAM products including storage maintenance and archival/retrieval workflows.
  • Manage the recording/acquisition, archival and distribution of video assets across our sport teams and affiliated leagues
  • Monitor the media quality control process to ensure commercial, program and digital assets meet quality control standards and are delivered for distribution on in-venue, out of home, digital and linear platforms.
  • Oversee delivery or publishing of video and digital assets to all of MLSE’s fan-facing digital content platforms
  • Supervise configuration, execution, and monitoring of live streams for licensed broadcast properties as well as team news conferences within team mobile applications or YouTube.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for our DAM/MAM products, various CMSs and emergency assistance outside of business hours
  • Other duties assigned to support our evolving ecosystem

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree in Television Broadcast, Sports Media, Information Sciences, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Vast experience with Asset Management software (Dalet and Media Valet experience is considered an asset)
  • Competent use of the Adobe creative cloud suite (Premiere, Encoder, After Effects and Photoshop) for the purposes of bringing creative up to certain technical specifications (no creative ability required)
  • Expertise in video, audio and image composition and components to perform quality control on all mediums for all delivery end points
  • Excellent attention to detail and spelling/grammar required as well as an understanding of databases, taxonomy and metadata applications
  • Comfortable using CMSes such as social platform studios, and many browser and software based tools for digital distribution including uploaders, and partner site custom web GUI.
  • Ability to quickly learn necessary technical tools and systems required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office computing including Excel and Visio an asset
  • Experience with Airtable, Workfront or similar project/task management software is an asset
  • Video production process knowledge for support of production team workflows
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with tact and trustworthiness
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to trouble shoot and make decisions on the fly with confidence
  • Ability to balance and manage multiple tasks and work streams across functional groups
  • Strong organizational and planning skills are essential
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to streamline communication across multiple teams
  • Knowledge of common social media platforms and their uses as well as search optimization best practices an asset
  • Create and work with operational budgets and capital expenditure planning
  • Experience with Workforce or similar scheduling software an asset
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Employment standards act an asset
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
