Job Description

As an organization committed to dismantling barriers and strengthening a culture of inclusion, MLSE is currently seeking an experienced leader for the role of Senior Manager, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Corporate initiatives, responsible for strategic ideation and execution of EDI priorities reporting to and in partnership with the Senior Director, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. 

In this role, you are a subject matter authority on the tenets of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion with demonstrated professional and leadership capability to impact and influence change. You lead with conviction as you champion our commitment to nurture an inclusive workplace culture that enables an authentic sense of belonging and achievement. 

You are a respected, thought leader with reach across the organization, collaborating with senior leaders both internally and externally, Employee Inclusion Groups, Teams and MLSE Foundation and Launchpad, to build impactful strategies and to design inclusive programs that increase access to all equity-deserving groups.

  • Leverage your understanding of racialized peoples and communities to advance EDI corporate objectives across the organization in partnership with all business departments, Employee Inclusion Groups, Teams, Social Justice Task Force, EDI Leadership Council, EDI Advisory Group, MLSE Foundation & Launchpad, external partners and community leaders. 
  • Oversee the Indigenous ReconciliAction Plan to ensure execution of commitments to representation, employment and business development, community engagement and leadership actions. 
  • Lead the development of an accessibility strategy to build a more inclusive and accessible workplace. 
  • Lead the development of an EDI communication strategy focusing on sharing best practices and increasing accountability to advance the collective organizational responsibility for inclusion in the workplace and community. 
  • Offer strategic advice and support to Team EDI leads where needed and amplify EDI outcomes across the organization. 
  • Monitor employee sentiment pertaining to equity, diversity and inclusion through periodic surveys and employee forums and formulates action plans to address gaps. 
  • Hold leadership accountable through good governance and the use of data insights and feedback to evolve and iterate strategic approaches, establish meaningful goals and report on progress. 
  • Act on behalf of the Senior Director, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion when required, representing the EDI practice and MLSE at conferences, leadership meetings and speaking engagements. 
  • Possess an authentic passion for lifelong learning with a dedication to staying current on leading and innovative diversity research and topics. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise as an equity, diversity, and inclusion practitioner, equipped with a comprehensive understanding of anti-racism and social justice matters, as well as strategies for dismantling systemic obstacles that disproportionately affect marginalized groups striving for equity. 
  • Keen understanding of how diversity, inclusion and cultural proficiency prove critical to developing a progressive and equitable workplace. 
  • Working knowledge and grasp of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada, Calls to Action and related strategy implementation with proven results. 
  • Demonstrated success leading, influencing, and executing EDI strategies working cross-functionally with stakeholders and impacting organizational change.
  • Strong business and financial acumen and ability to use organizational and industry knowledge along with financial information to develop and deliver successful project outcomes. 
  • Expertise in building relationships with leaders at all levels through trust, respect and professional maturity.  
  • Experience growing grassroots initiatives with the ability to think strategically and translate needs into measurable objectives.
