Job Description

Toronto FC is seeking a Senior Manager of Analytics to drive an evidence-based approach across Team Operations. This individual will be critical member of the club's Front Office, tasked with implementing a club-wide data strategy. Their work will focus on facilitating evidence-based approaches across player recruitment, opposition analysis, and roster budget management.

The Role:

  • Implementation of club-wide team and player performance metrics that align with club playing philosophy.
  • Oversee the effective warehousing of performance data and surfacing of insights, via both automated processes and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Participate in the ongoing research and development of novel methods of analysis in soccer.
  • Coordinate with MLSE stakeholders on innovation projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A strong grasp of soccer tactics and familiarity with the sports industry.
  • Proficiency working in large data sets with Python and SQL.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced setting; can handle multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Can work flexible and varying schedules, including extended travel and late hours.
  • Experience in a high-performance sporting environment.
  • Familiarity of the MLS Roster Rules and Regulations.
  • Experience working with high-fidelity player-tracking data.
  • Experience with version control software such as Git.
  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices.
  • Experience with performance analysis software such as Sportscode.
