Job Description

MLSE is looking for a Broadcast Talent Manager to join our Content & Broadcast team. As the Broadcast Talent Manager, you will scout and attract emerging broadcast talent in all key sports broadcasting categories, such as basketball, hockey, and soccer. You will mobilize the training and development of our current and evolving talent roster while liaising with talent coaches and mentors to support our talents growth and advancement. With a thorough understanding of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (preferably through lived experience), the successful candidate will have the ability to develop, train, coach and engage with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Actively scout, attract, and review new talent; including receiving and assessing all demo reel submissions from novice to experienced talent, working closely with show Producers and PM’s.
  • Conduct all talent scheduling and calendar management for various content productions (i.e., digital platforms, broadcast, NBATVC, corporate) and appearances.
  • Coordinate and administer all contracts, contract management and negotiations while maintaining an up-to-date contact and rate database.
  • Oversee all new hire onboarding in addition to leading all training and development opportunities for both current and incoming talent.
  • Work cross-functionally with our content team along with other internal departments (i.e., broadcasters, MLSE Production) to identify available talent for any game operations support or appearances.
  •  Ability to develop, train, coach and engage with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds with a specific lens on equity seeking communities.
  • Understands where diverse, external talent pools exist and work to execute on initiatives to tap into those talent communities

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of experience in sport broadcasting production is ideal, experience working with broadcast talent and producers is an asset
  • You are an expert in identifying broadcast talent skills (play-by-play, colour commentary, and sideline reporting)
  • You possess outstanding organizational and scheduling skills and can deliver within a fast-paced, changing environment (experience using Airtable a bonus)
  • Outstanding written, negotiation and verbal communication skills with the ability to connect with all levels of internal and external partners
  • You excel at attracting and acquiring emerging top talent
  • Fundamental knowledge of DEI principles specific to navigating space, prioritizing the creation of inclusive outcomes and a broad understanding of the unique needs of equity deserving groups
  • A passion for building diverse, equitable, and inclusive teams
  • And... you’re a live sports viewer!
