Job Description

Team Overview: 

The Live Events team is responsible for planning and executing all events at Scotiabank Arena. We are the central communication hub for all activities including internal events, sport events and concerts. Our role is to ensure that all departments have the appropriate information and lead the execution of events. 

The Role: 

Reporting to the Live Events Director, the Live Events Intern / Co-Op will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in planning and executing small to large scale internal events at Scotiabank Arena while learning how to communicate to large audiences and individual department representatives efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for a variety of programs and events and instrumental in overseeing the smooth and efficient delivery of various events at Scotiabank Arena. 

MLSE’s Internship term dates are from January 9th, 2023 - April 28th, 2023

Responsibilities: 

  • Support the execution of events by working with the Live Events team to lead all relevant event day personnel 
  • Act as the main contact for internal clients once an event has been booked and assigned 
  • Prepare and distribute event details to all departments, and endorse accurate communication on all event aspects 
  • Generate event cost estimates after consultation with client and appropriate MLSE departments / staff, exercising accuracy and adherence to operational policies and procedures 
  • Conduct event briefings for all event staff on event days and in weekly inter-departmental meetings 
  • Assist with the administrative functions including, but not limited to, event details, event estimates, calendars updates, event scheduling and venue weekly updates 
  • Assist Event Coordinators, Event Managers, Director of Venue Programming and Live Event Management and all other areas as requested 

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a University or College degree / diploma in a sport, public relations, event management or communications related field  
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills 
  • Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Outgoing, diplomatic, and self-motivated  
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, multitask, and meet multiple deadlines 
  • A positive, winning attitude, incorporating integrity, confidentiality, and discretion 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required 
  • Previous experience planning, coordinating, and executing events an asset 
  • Willing to work a minimum of 4 days / week, as well as weekends, evenings, and holidays as required
  • You are fully vaccinated against Covid-19
