Job Description

As part of our dynamic and knowledgeable culinary team, you will be responsible for supporting the team for execution of premium events, creating incredible food for our guests and clients. You will be involved in managing and operating the culinary department’s day to day operations. You will have ongoing awareness and responsiveness to guest and client satisfaction, while maintaining exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. As the ideal team member joining us, you are a creative thinker with innovative culinary ideas that will drive efficiency and improve business processes within the culinary department.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of catering events and a la carte service only delivering the best possible and highest quality food to our clients and guests.
  • Order, maintain, transfer and ensure quality inventory of protein, produce, dry goods and cleaning supplies.
  • Provide hands-on support, training and direction to Kitchen Workers while on station to ensure final product, including meat, fish and sauce is presented/plated according to specifications laid out by the manager
  • Inventory management including counts, troubleshooting, and creating action plans to maintain and improve COGS.
  • Take direction from senior chefs and coach, train & manage your team of up to 30 daily.
  • Promote our internal Common Purpose and employee programs.
  • Taste test food for quality assurance under day duty responsibility
  • Responsible primarily for closing the kitchen and ensuring proper closing procedures are followed.
  • Report all equipment problems/maintenance concerns and food product discrepancies to the senior chefs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen.
  • Ensure proper storage of all food ingredients in their respective areas, using proper rotation
  • Prioritize and organize tasks for speed and quality assurance
  • Contribute positively to a team focused environment and maintain a proactive and positive relationship with FOH.
  • Follow all MLSE Health & Safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum 1 year relevant supervisory experience
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • POS and inventory system experience and asset
  • Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A winning attitude
