Job Description

MLSE is looking for a Strategist with a passion for problem-solving and thinking outside of the box to join the Revenue Strategy team within Global Partnerships. The Revenue Strategy team is responsible for supporting the growth of the Global Partnerships business, discovering opportunities for growth aligned with organizational objectives and values, and supporting new business development goals with a proactive and thoughtful lens. Reporting to the Director of Revenue Strategy, Global Partnerships this role will focus driving sponsorship revenue and unlocking new opportunities for all of MLSE’s sports properties. The ideal candidate will be a creative, energetic and organized thought leader capable of leading several projects, evaluating new opportunities, and  communicating key insights with an executive tone. We are looking for candidates who are excited about discovering new opportunities, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager for a challenge.

THE ROLE

  • Effectively interpret key market insights to inform go-to-market-plans for business development and new assets
  • Stays current on industry trends and effectively shares implications with the broader team including business strategy trends, audience / fan insights, marketing and sponsorship leading practices, connectivity to competitors and global leading practices, etc.
  • Builds and fosters trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Has a revenue-driving mindset and proactively identifies net new opportunities to enhance the business or drive change; is consistently collaborating with internal stakeholders, based on MLSE or partner objectives
  • Can take direction from colleagues and is able to develop and lead proposed plan of action to tackle new opportunities and projects, including the required insights and inputs
  • Develops a deep and thorough understanding of MLSE partners’ business and competitive environment to continually deliver against business objectives for both the partner and MLSE
  • Leads the development of external-facing partnership documents including new business proposals and renewal; works with our Partnership Development team to pitch new business proposals

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in a business-related discipline
  • 2-4 years of related and meaningful experience in a marketing, strategy, or consulting role  
  • Has experience leading projects from insights generation to completion
  • Solid comprehension of marketing, business development, partnerships, and research fundamentals
  • Proven to be inclusive and empathetic within a team environment; you seek to understand others’ perspectives and incorporate that into your approach
  • Ability to showcase strategic insight, thought leadership and clear communication (written and verbal) to internal and external stakeholders
  • A great storyteller who is comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to see the big picture, develop insights and proactively shape the strategic direction
  • Able operate and develop structure in an ambiguous environment
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and handle multiple priorities at the same time; knows how to prioritize and understands when to ask for support and when to delegate
  • A positive, winning approach, incorporating integrity, confidentiality and discretion
  • The Global Partnerships team may require availability on evenings and weekends from time to time as needed due to the nature of our business
