Job Description

Reports to: Manager, Team Operations and Culture

As part of MLSE’s NBA Gatorade League team (affiliate of the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club), this position will be responsible for building and implementing an effective social media communication strategy for 905 social platforms. The position will focus on handling all social media accounts while creating and sharing accurate content to increase engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of Raptors 905 media, digital and social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Build and execute a social media strategy plan including setting goals to deliver creative and fresh content.
  • Create social media graphics and other content for use across corporate social media accounts.
  • Build and share weekly and monthly social media engagement reports.
  • Develop and maintain an editorial calendar for social media planning.
  • Organize weekly cross-departmental communications meetings, maintain the company wide communications calendar and produce week-ahead communications reports.
  • Lead corporate communications meetings, including scheduling coordination, drafting the agenda, and distributing notes and action items afterwards.
  • Work with internal marketing and operations teams to provide communications and social media support
  • Responsible for maintaining media subscriptions and news accounts.
  • Provide research and analysis on communications projects, as needed.
  • Handle media and public relations requests for home/away games for all staff and players
  • Produce and distribute game notes
  • Generate story ideas and provide information to media with intent to create, support or enhance stories.
  • Work with the Marketing and Corporate Departments to help integrate promotional opportunities into team or corporate partner events, which includes writing corporate press releases.
  • Help monitor and facilitate media access periods at games and practices, cultivating strong relationships with the local and national media.
  • Work with Community Relations to help promote events and initiatives.
  • Aid in securing media coverage for all off-court events.
  • Handle media guides, department manuals and game notes.
  • Write team press releases, supplying information used by media in covering team events and transactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2+ years communications and/or social media work experience.
  • Ability to use Adobe design platforms including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Draw, and Adobe Sketch.
  • Ability to prioritize workload with competing deadlines in a multifaceted and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently on and a team.
  • Outstanding attention to detail with strong follow-through, results driven.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
