Job Description

As Coordinator, Event Personnel, you will provide leadership to the Event Personnel within the Operations department, ensuring the delivery of championship guest services to our customers.  This hourly position will represent the Event Day Lead for all Sporting and Concert events hosted by MLSE. The Coordinator will be an integral part of the overall MLSE Event Personnel operations. This position requires irregular hours including evenings, nights and weekends depending on the events and activities in all MLSE venues. 

  • Lead by example in staff management and development, utilizing a “one team” approach; ensure departmental professionalism and Elevate program are intact.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and support of all front of house policies and procedures.
  • Instill ongoing communication with other departments to ensure effective and exceptional service delivery front and back of house.
  • Facilitate the recruitment, orientation and training of part-time event-based personnel including part-time Event Supervisors.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback and discipline to event personnel and coordinate the writing and implementation of part-time performance reviews by supervisors.
  • Ensure events are effectively deployed and coordinated for maximum service delivery and efficiency.
  • Recognize employees for their Elevate contributions; participate in the part time Recognition Program.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Event Staff Collective Bargaining Agreements; foster positive employer/employee relations accordingly.
  • Control uniform matters including inventory and upkeep.
  • Input and confirm staffing hours through WorkForce, including tracking absences and doctor’s notes received.
  • Act as “Manager on Duty” representing Event Personnel services as deployed at MLSE venues.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of public assembly facility or event operational experience in a management role
  • Previous experience in a leadership capacity with effective coaching and coordinating skills
  • Familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills
  • Both a team player and a team builder who can relate professionally to all levels of management
  • Ability to enhance and lead a positive and encouraging work environment
  • Proven to perform well under pressure, manage multiple priorities simultaneously and be self-motivated
  • An ongoing awareness and responsiveness to client service
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required
  • SmartServe Certification is required
  • WorkForce experience an asset
  • A positive, friendly, outgoing, winning attitude, incorporating integrity, confidentiality and discretion
