Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) one of the world's premier sports and entertainment companies, owns the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), Toronto Marlies (AHL), Raptors 905 (NBA D-League), TFC II (USL) and Raptors Uprising Gaming Club, the Toronto Raptors Esports franchise in the NBA 2K League. Job Description

As a valuable member of the MLSE Corporate Communications team, you will assist with media and public relations for all Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment’s brands (Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Toronto FC, Toronto Argonauts, MLSE LIVE, MLSE Foundation, and MLSE LaunchPad) and business units (Food & Beverage, Retail and esports), while working internally with all departments on various events and campaigns.

  • Complete daily media monitoring for the Communications team and distribute company-wide e-mail daily.
  • Provide support at PR events and press conferences for all MLSE brands, when needed.
  • Work on communications initiatives for Leafs, Raptors, Toronto FC, Toronto Argonauts, Raptors 905 and Marlies.
  • Provide event and PR support at community events including clinics, school assemblies, hospital visits and more.
  • Assist in crafting press releases, media advisories and media alerts.
  • Create coverage reports documenting communications performance, coverage and social media content.
  • Use professional vocabulary, terminology, and communication tactics.
  • Adhere to all MLSE service standards and policies.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Perform other administrative or service functions as required.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution with a focus in a public relations, communications, media, journalism or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proficient at learning new software and technology
  • Understanding of social media and web communication
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, WordPress, SharePoint, web design, video editing or related creative software considered an asset
  • Sound understanding of the sports industry and the Canadian sports landscape is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong editing and proofreading abilities
  • Solid time management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
