Company Description

MET International AG (METI) was established in 2010 in order to consolidate and develop MET Group’s international natural gas sales and purchase portfolio, as well as to establish a trading arm for commodity lines. 

METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.

Lead strategy and implementation of structured trading activities concerning EUAs, GoOs, and other international certificates and offsets with a strong focus on the carbon and power GoOs.

Job Description

  • Lead the product structuring and trading of the different environmental commodities:
  • Emissions: European Emission Allowances (EUAs) and voluntary carbon offset credits (VCU, VER, etc)
  • Energy Attribute Certificates for electricity (EACs): European Guarantees of Origin (AIB and domestic markets) and I-RECs.
  • Biomethane certificates: European Guarantees of Origin and Proof of Sustainability.
  • Prospect and identify leads and potential customers by liaising with originators and sales representatives across MET Groups other divisions (MET Renewables, EU Sales)
  • Manage and optimize the environmental certificates portfolio, inline with risk and regulatory frameworks
  • Conduct market analysis and drive fundamental model development to aid price and risk management strategy formulation
  • Ensure all transactions are within the risk framework and transactions are correctly recorded in the ETRM system
  • Support the further development of certificates/ environmental product offerings
  • Develop more junior team members

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ relevant experience in energy trading or related field
  • Practical knowledge of the different environmental commodities: renewable certificates under the European Renewable Energy Directive, European compliance carbon markets under the EU ETS Directive and voluntary carbon markets (EUAs, EACs, and biomethane)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Prior experience in either trading, or portfolio management or sales of such products.
  • Excellent understanding of risk management principles and practices.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership experience with the ability to develop and guide junior team member(s) and coordinate intra-group stakeholders
  • Business fluency in English is mandatory, an additional European language is advantageous
