Company Description

MET Group is an integrated European energy company, headquartered in Switzerland, with activities in natural gas and power, focused on multi-commodity wholesale, trading and sales, as well as energy infrastructure and industrial assets.

The Green Asset Divison's goal is to create a significant, transparent, financially sound green asset – wind and solar – portfolio, resulting in positive shareholder return with reasonable risk profile via deep understanding of the energy markets. MET Group invests in ready-to-build assets and develops greenfield, and brownfield sites as well. We aim to establish 500 MW of renewable capacity in Europe by 2023 as part of a new push into the green energy sector. In the longer term, our objective is to achieve another 500 MW of renewable capacity in operation by 2026.

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Green Asset legal team.

Job Description

  • Supporting the legal director of MET Group’s Green Assets Division in the legal management of the dynamically expanding renewable energy portfolio of MET Group
  • Contributing to the development and management of internal corporate affairs and corporate governance procedures
  • Supporting internal housekeeping and document management practices in a swiftly growing environment
  • Managing the legal integration of newly acquired assets and companies into the Green Assets Division’s operations
  • Supporting M&A transactions in various European jurisdictions
  • Providing legal support for development and construction of renewable energy projects across various countries, with the involvement of local legal advisors
  • Managing a variety of legal and regulatory matters in connection with the operating renewable energy portfolio of MET Group
  • Draft, review and advise on NDAs, LOIs, NBOs, SPAs and other project acquisition, development and O&M contracts
  • Communication with and management of the work of local legal advisors

Qualifications

  • Legal degree from a renowned law school
  • Approximately 5-7 years’ experience, preferably at least partially in-house
  • Experience in the energy industry is desirable
  • Native Hungarian, and excellent command of English is required (ability to draft contracts in English)
  • LLM from a UK or other common law jurisdiction is a plus
