MET Group is an integrated European energy company, headquartered in Switzerland, with activities in natural gas and power, focused on multi-commodity wholesale, trading and sales, as well as energy infrastructure and industrial assets.

The Green Asset Divison's goal is to create a significant, transparent, financially sound green asset – wind and solar – portfolio, resulting in positive shareholder return with reasonable risk profile via deep understanding of the energy markets. MET Group invests in ready-to-build assets and develops greenfield, and brownfield sites as well. We aim to establish 500 MW of renewable capacity in Europe by 2023 as part of a new push into the green energy sector. In the longer term, our objective is to achieve another 500 MW of renewable capacity in operation by 2026.

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Green Asset (Renewables) legal team.

Job Description

  • Full scope support to the expansion of MET Group’s renewable portfolio (especially photovoltaic and on-shore wind) under the supervision of the Green Assets Legal Director
  • Managing M&A transactions from a legal perspective in various jurisdictions, with a focus on the South-European region
  • Providing legal support for development and construction of renewable energy projects in Italy, Spain and other jurisdictions from day one until commencement of operation
  • Identifying and managing legal risks with respect to the operation and expansion of the renewable energy portfolio of MET Group
  • Draft, review and advise on NDAs, LOIs, NBOs, SPAs and other project acquisition, development and O&M contracts
  • Supporting the identification and maintenance of a network of external legal advisors to support the needs of the Green Assets Division in terms of local legal advice.

Qualifications

  • Legal degree from a leading Italian law school
  • LLM (Master of Laws) from a UK or other common law jurisdiction is highly desirable
  • Approximately 7-10 years’ experience, preferably at least partially in-house
  • Experience in the energy industry
  • Experience in M&A transactions, project development
  • Ability to independently negotiate highly structured M&A deals and support project development processes
  • Native Italian and excellent command of English is required (ability to draft contracts in English)
  • Additional Southern European language knowledge is an advantage
  • Experience through studies/ work in the Southern European region is an advantage
