Job Description

The Project Estimator with MCP Group is responsible for the preparation of cost estimates for commercial construction work.  The Estimator gathers information and requirements for the estimate from a variety of plan documents, verbal and/or written communication with the project owner, and the project team.  Including the projects engineers and architects.  The Estimator is responsible for maintaining current and accurate data in regard to pricing of materials and labor.  The Project Estimator assists in all pre construction activities related to the estimate and project.  The Estimator attends and presents budgets at pre construction meetings, adjusting budgets during the design and development phase and also when construction plans are released.  

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in the construction field
  • The ability to read and understand schematic drawings is required
  • Exceptional communication skills are required.  Including verbal and written skills
  • Experience with material takeoffs is a plus
  • General knowledge of commercial construction methods is preferred
  • An understanding of Value Engineering, scope review and bidding of general construction projects is desirable
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Excel is required
  • Experience in Bluebeam is preferred
  • The ability to multitask is a must

Additional Information

The Project Estimator position operates in a high-energy environment that demands great attention to detail and exceptional analytical skills.  The Project Estimator must be able to compile and analyze data quickly and accurately.  Vetting multiple estimates against each other, determining key factors for any variance in material and/or labor pricing.  The Project Estimator works on multiple projects at a time and must be able to multi task without compromising accuracy.  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
