Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) works collaboratively with staff and under the supervision of the Human Resources Director to execute human resources strategies and to deliver core HR services. HRG is responsible for a variety of complex activities within specific areas of Human Resource administration. HRG will assist in employee training and development, administer the recruitment process, employee relations, benefits, and support the day-to-day activities of the HR Department. Provide support in developing, implementing and evaluating activities and programs that address performance appraisal, payroll, benefits, talent and performance management and to ensure that the knowledge, skills, abilities, and performance of the workforce meet current and future organizational and individual needs. Uses HR professional concepts, company policies, and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems to ensure company compliance with applicable federal and state laws. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uses HR professional concepts, company policies, and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems to ensure company compliance with applicable federal and state laws. 
  • Provide day-to-day HR guidance to management (e.g., counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) on employee relations issues (investigations, involuntary terminations).
  •  Support and provide insight on MBI’s comprehensive New Hire Orientation and Onboarding program strategies; facilitate training for employees and management on these initiatives.
  • Manage unemployment and workers comp claims to include attendance at hearings, when applicable. 
  • Reporting and metrics responsibility including, but not limited to turnover, absenteeism, time to hire, cost per hire, service anniversary reports, benefits utilization, and other ad hoc reports as needed. 
  • Collaborates with HR management to identify effective strategies related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management. 
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance. 
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as required. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of human resource management experience required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. 
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
