Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under immediate general supervision, the TAY Youth Development Leader serves as a consumer advocate; provides consumer information and peer support for consumers in a variety of settings. This individual performs a wide range of tasks to support consumers in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process and also model competency in recovery and wellness.

DUTIES:

Everyday Responsibilities and Duties:

● Coordinating logistics for the client such as medical appointments; therapy sessions; etc.

● Meeting with the clients regularly to offer one to one support.

● Maintaining confidentiality of records relating to consumers’ treatment.

● Utilize and teach problem solving techniques with individuals and groups;

● Provide 15 or more billable hours per week.

● Works with Clinical Managers and other multi-disciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans/assessments for clients.

● Creates appropriate encounter notes and input into systems as needed.

● Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies in working with the clients.

● ​Teach and role model the value of every individual’s recovery experience.

Requirements:

● High School diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

● Valid driver’s license

● DBH Peer Support Specialist Certification

● Lived experience with mental health conditions, substance abuse, or trauma;

● Excellent verbal and written communications skills

● An understanding of the recovery process and how to use their own story to support others.

Other duties as assigned.
