Our brake shoe manufacturing facility in Gardena, CA. produces high quality brake shoes as well as new brake kits and lined shoes for medium and heavy duty truck and bus applications.  The business is part of the brake products group of MAT, which is a part of our presence in the commercial vehicle braking segment and complements our existing product offering in our heavy duty portfolio.

Job Description

Performs the day-to-day maintenance activity in accordance with maintenance and operations strategies and goals that maximize the profits to the company by improving efficiencies and cutting costs. Proactively seeks opportunities for improvement to assure maximum company performance.

  • Efficiently repairs machinery through careful planning, exceptional detail to execution, and crucial intention of the machinery running more efficiently and reliably than prior to repair needs.

  • Proactively assess all machinery to determine needs for repair prior to a breakdown occurring.

  • Provide experienced counsel during trouble-shooting process of repair.

  • Continuously determine the greatest opportunity for improving efficiencies and decreasing costs when deciding whether to repair machinery or purchase new equipment.

  • Collaborate with all areas of Operations and Warehouse to assure the best priority and course of action is taken.

  • Continuously assess repair tooling and equipment to assure excellent working condition to achieve maximum performance.

  • Proactively perform maintenance procedures to assure the most efficient operations of machinery and minimize the risk of failure.

  • Continuously assess existing preventative maintenance processes and procedures to find opportunities for improvement.

  •  Provides expert Technical Support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, 2 years of college preferred

  • 2 to 5 years of maintenance experience

  • Experience in metal stamping and fabrication industry preferred. 

  • Knowledge and understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, power trains, metal forming and finishing equipment, E-coat paint equipment and procedures, and metal fabrication equipment is required.

Specific skills include:  basic computer skills, good coaching and feedback skills, and excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, and written).
